Using the recipe finder
The in-game recipe book only shows what you’ve already unlocked. This finder has the full list, and you can search in both directions: by the item you want to make, or by an ingredient you have too much of.
It covers the crafting table, furnace, blast furnace, smoker, campfire, stonecutter and smithing table. Brewing works differently, so it has its own page.
How to use it

Type an item or an ingredient, or narrow the list with a category.

Open a result to see the grid, the workstation and how many items it makes.
- 03
If the recipe shows several methods, pick the one that fits what you have.
Good to know
- If a pattern fits in 2 × 2 you can craft it in your inventory without a crafting table.
- Most shaped recipes also work mirrored left to right.
- For stairs, slabs and walls, the stonecutter usually gives you more for the same stone.
Frequently asked questions
Do these recipes work in Bedrock?
Yes. The list is built from Java data, but the layouts and results shown work in both editions.
Why can’t I find some items?
Some items can’t be crafted at all, like spawn eggs or the dragon egg. They come from loot, trading or Creative.
Where are potions?
In the Potion Recipes tool, since brewing doesn’t use a crafting grid.
Can I search by ingredient?
Yes. Type something you have, like iron ingots or string, and you’ll see every recipe that uses it.
What’s the difference between shaped and shapeless?
Shaped recipes need the ingredients in a specific pattern. Shapeless ones only care about which ingredients you use, so they can go in any slot.
Do recipes change between versions?
Sometimes. Mojang adds and adjusts recipes in updates. The list follows current Java data, so on an older version check that the item exists first.
